Vintage Pawn Zuni LAPIS Bluebird Sterling Pendant Brooch Pin HM Coonsis c70s/80s. This is a sensational vintage handcrafted sterling silver and Lapis Bluebird pendant brooch by famous Zuni artisans Harlan and Monica Coonsis, circa late 1970s or early 1980s. This gorgeous bird pendant brooch features a deep blue lapis body with hand etched feather details, set against the backdrop of leaves and flowers set with turquoise and shell.

Measures approx 2-1/4" x 2-5/8" and comes with a stick pin as well as a bail for more versatility. All details were painstakingly hand etched or stamped into the design. A complimentary silver chain is included.

Harlan Coonsis (1958-) was born into the Sun Clan at Zuni Pueblo. He is the grandson of Myra Qualo and an award winning artisan who works with his wife Monica. They specialize in intricate inlay work of animal or bird subjects, as well as symbolic deities of the Zuni culture. They are referenced in Schaaf's "American Indian Jewelry I and II", Hougart's "Native American and Southwestern Silver Hallmarks" and Bassman's "Zuni Jewelry".
