BENNIE RATION NAVAJO 925 SILVER GREEN TURQUOISE 5 KACHINA NECKLACE PIN PENDANT. Bennie Ration, Navajo Silversmith was born in 1955 on the Canoncito Navajo Reservation in New Mexico. He grew up in his fathers shop watching him making traditional Navajo creations out of silver. At age eleven Bennie was creating his own pieces.
His work was noticed even at that early age. His father told him no matter what you do in life youll always have this craft to fall back on. After completing high school Bennie went on to learn silk screening and graphics.
Up to 1978 Bennie worked at silkscreen and graphics designing. At this time Bennie Fell Back to silver smithing. He began making three dimensional figures in silver and stone with the expertise he learned as a graphics designer. He took his inspiration from rock art drawings , spiritual beings, kachina figures, the wildlife , and a wonderful imagination.
Bennie is considered tops in his field of contemporary Indian art by many of his peers.
