Native American Turquoise Petit Point Sterling Silver Cross Pendant / Pin Signed
Southwestern Native American Indian turquoise petit point cluster Sterling silver cross pendant, pin / brooch, signed by Zuni artist VERA HALUSEWA. Petit Point designs emerged in the 1920s, and it's a labor intensive and tedious work, as each stone has to be cut, glued to matchsticks, shaped, polished with the use of grinding wheels and set in bezels that are also individually shaped and soldered. The Sleeping Beauty turquoise is a favorite of many artisans for this type of cluster work, but we aren't sure which type of turquoise was used in this pendant. This lovely piece weighs approximately 5.5 grams, and it's almost 2" tall by 1 1/2" wide. Very nice petit point cluster work by Vera. Thank you for supporting authentic Native American art.
