Vintage Native American Indian Fur Trade Hat with 14 Silver Pins and Brooches

  
Native American Fur Trade Hat with Porcupine Quill outer band over a silk inner band. There are fourteen silver pins/ pendants and brooches attached to it. The hat possibly dates to the 18th century. The pins/ pendants and brooches were items used by the French and English traders. Some of the pieces are marked. I cannot see any maker's mark on the back of each pin or brooch because they are. All carefully tied to the hat with a hairlike substance, perhaps horsehair. Each pin/ pendant and brooch is beautifully and artistically uniquely different and well done. With no chips or cracks that I can see.

The brown felt hat measures 11 1/2 inches tall and 12 1/2 inches long. There is a very small. Three quarter inch cut on the back top of the hat and a thin one inch partial slice on the back.
