Navajo Turquoise Cast Silver Roadrunner Pin 1960's Vintage Tucson Estate

  
From a Casas Adobes estate in Tucson is this impressive I believe 1960's or so Navajo cast silver roadrunner pin - a big one, cast up in the traditional manner and with a local lapidary turquoise eye. Chisel work and old style prepared stamp embellishments further elevate the look. This is not one of those recent small "cute" birds meant for some day visitor to Albuquerque. While many of those may have a certain touristic charm, they pale in comparison to the more impressive and closer to mid century version being offered here. This beauty has good size and every bit of "the look" - well, for those with an appetite for vintage southwestern wearable folk art.

Weight is good for the form at about 11.1 grams on my portable digital scale. Condition is quite fine with an aura of time to the surfaces. Be aware I have avoided every urge to refresh away or "improve" upon any natural toning - you want that done, you do it. The turquoise eye is well preserved, the trader supplied silver pin and locking clasp likewise. A look at the pics should give a good idea of appearance and condition.

Size is about 2 3/8 in. Horizontal and 1 5/8 in. Vertical - yes, I'm certain it will be noticed. If you prefer more historic tribal silver work for a road less travelled, or simply wish a single noticeable improvement to the ambiance of each day, this will have great meaning for you.
