I have lived in New Mexico minutes from the Navajo Reservation for 45 years. Living in this diverse cultural area has been my inspiration for many of my jewelry designs. I strive to make high quality jewelry with a definite Southwest feel that honors the cultures from our area. Sometimes I will sell items that I have picked up locally at pawn shops, from local vendors or have had in my personal collection.
This beautiful coral cluster set is dead pawn from a local pawn shop. The Navajo way is to wear both bracelets as a set. To honor this long time tradition, I do not want to sell these separately. Usually all of the items listed are worn as a set. This is a gorgeous set of block coral Navajo cluster jewelry.
2 bracelets, a large ring, a beautiful pin/pendant and a pair of large earrings. The whole set weighs 135 grams.
This block coral is beautifully done, and is a very dark maroon/red with black matrix. But please note it is not genuine coral. It took the same hard work and craftsmanship to make these pieces and is environmentally friendlier as it does not require the harvest of live coral. Block material is commonly used in Southwestern and Native American jewelry. The pendant is marked sterling silver, but the other pieces are not marked. I have not tested any of the pieces to see what type of silver.
The pawn shop owner stated the earring were sterling silver also, but they are not marked and so I will not state them as sterling. These pieces are either sterling silver or German or nickel silver, but most likely a mix of the two. The cluster cuff bracelets are signed RT. They have a large center cluster which measures approximately 2 inches and two side triangle clusters that measure 1 inch by 1 1/4 inches. Each individual stone measures approx.
The inner measurement of the bracelets are slightly over 5 inches with an additional 1 inch opening. They are in excellent condition and all stones are secure.
Each bracelet weighs 41 grams. The large ring is 1 3/4 by 1 1/2 inches. It is a size 7.75. The ring is not signed.
It is beautiful and in excellent condition and all stones are secure. The pin is signed RT and stamped sterling silver. The pin can also be worn as a pendant, it has a loop in the back that can have a chain or cord strung through it. 2 1/4 inches by 1 3/4 inches. The individual stones measure approx.
The other pieces have black matrix, this is the only one with gold matrix. It is in excellent condition and the pin is in tact and working. All the stones are secure. The earrings are pretty large. They are slightly over 1 1/2 inches by 1 1/4 inches.
The individual stones are approx. Including the ear hooks, they are a little over 2 inches long. The earrings are not signed. They are in excellent condition and all the stones are secure.Since these pieces are from dead pawn, I really do not know more about them than what is stated above.
