VINTAGE NAVAJO TOMMY SINGER Sterling Silver Chip Inlay Peyote Bird Pin. Interested in more than one item? One of Tommy's early Pins, his early stuff is almost unattainable, & very rare this awesome piece is from my Private collection, If you want any other pics just ask! I knew Tommy and his wife Rose and visited with them many times in Winslow Arizona where I picked up this Incredible pin in the 1980's. This is a great Very Early vintage 1970's Navajo Pin or a Tie Tac hallmarked T C for the crescent moon for Tommy singer.

It has a nice patina to it set in hand hammered Sterling Silver. A must for any collector. This is a very early piece of Authentic Native American Made Jewelry by one of the now gone Masters! This is an early work of Tommy Singer showing off his superb craftsmanship and attention to details. The Peyote bird has an elegantly domed profile, the tail is movable and the edges are smooth. The chip inlay is beautifully made with turquoise and fire red coral in sterling silver, and the piece has a nice weight of 11 grams. Signed T C where the C is a crescent moon, an early hallmark of Tommy Singer which means this piece is around 40 years old or older. It is in very good vintage condition. Tommy invented the chip-inlay technique in the 1960s. This technique is also found in works by his brothers Charlie and William Singer, but has since become widespread in the Navajo community. Tommy made his pieces with the various meanings from Navajo traditional ways. The Peyote bird, sometimes also called Water bird (the two have different origins, but are often treated as the same symbol) is associated with lightning and thunder. The Peyote is also used in the Native American Church. According to Hallmarks of the Southwest by Barton Wright, the hallmark T has been attributed to Navajo artist Tommy Singer. Many times it is found under the word Sterling, Early on he used the T, & TS and variations of a T often accompanied by a quarter moon or bird form. Tommy Singer was born in 1940 and passed away May 31, 2014. He was from Winslow, Arizona where he lived with his wife Rose and their children and grandchildren.

Tommy was a regarded silversmith and is known throughout the world for his jewelry work. Renowned and respected, his jewelry remains his legacy. If you know Tommy Singer's work, this is a very representational and recognizable... Beautiful silver workmanship with only the finest turquoise.

Tommy's work is well known internationally and is featured in a number of Indian art publications. One can easily recognize Tommys work. He marked his finished pieces with "T", T. Singer or with T and a crescent moon. Whether Tommy created a bolo tie, buckle, ring, necklace, pendant, or bracelet, he stated that, All my jewelry is made to satisfy my customer.
