1930s Native American Symbol Pin Brooch Navajo Horse Whirling Winds Arrows Stone. Just under 2 long this aged pin is from the 1930s - 40's or possibly earlier. I'm pretty sure it is a horse, others say a dog.
It is stamped on back with "STERLING" and the word "TOP" underneath. That could mean the actual pin fastener itself is not silver.Though it's rare to see a piece from this time marked, it is not unheard of. I recently read that artists stopped using the tumbling log or Whirling Winds sign altogether by the 1950s, but I'm sure there were some who did not, This could mean the pin is post 1950s. The horse has a tumbling logs symbol, a single arrow, and two crossing Arrows (for friendship). The tiny dot of blue Turquoise at center of the arrow represents war or hunting.
Add one pin-prick size turquoise eye and it's called... The Icing on the cake. This item is in the category "Jewelry & Watches\Ethnic, Regional & Tribal\Brooches & Pins". The seller is "honeybeesoup" and is located in this country: US.
