This piece is an outstanding example of early Zuni inlay. Frank Vacit, Zuni, created this piece, in the style of channel inlay, and stamped the reverse with his cornstalk hallmark. The small size of the stones makes the lapidary work very fine and delicate. The design depicts the mythological being called Knifewing.
The materials are silver, mother of pearl, jet, turquoise, and coral. Note the multiple tones of turquoise. The piece has width 1-1/4" and height 1-3/4".
