When you see a Gold Finch in the wild you are always impressed by the vibrant colors against the desert background. Zuni artist Harlan Coonsis has recreated the spectacular creature using a combination of shells, variscite and sugilite. S work he gives the inlay design realistic features by using lots of etch work and building an appropriate style surrounding, like the blooming flowers. The piece is made to be worn as either a pin or pendant and you can not imagine how good it looks on, unless you already have some of his work.
